Actor Mahesh Babu has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case related to realty group Surana group and Sai Surya Developers. The actor is accused of receiving over Rs 5.5 crore for appearing in advertisements for the Surana Group. The ED earlier found illegal transactions worth Rs 100 crore and seized Rs 74.5 lakh in cash during searches at Surana group's affiliated companies. After declining to a three-year low in FY24, the private sector investment is expected to fall further in the current financial year, India Ratings said in a research note.. Sebi on Wednesday revised the disclosure requirements for Real Estate Investment Trusts and Infrastructure Investment Trusts, revising norms related to financial information in offer documents and post-listing disclosures. Under the new rules, REITs and InvITs issuing offer documents or follow-on offers must disclose audited financial statements for the last three financial years and a stub period, if applicable, Sebi said in two separate circulars.
Credit outstanding to the housing sector rose by nearly Rs 10 lakh crore in the last two fiscals to reach a record Rs 27.23 lakh crore in March this year, according to RBI's data on 'Sectoral Deployment of Bank Credit'. Experts from banking and real estate sectors attributed this growth in housing credit outstanding to a strong revival in the residential property market post-COVID pandemic on pent-up demand. According to the data of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on sectoral deployment of bank credit for March 2024, the credit outstanding to the housing (including priority sector housing') stood at Rs 27,22,720 crore in March 2024, up from Rs 19,88,532 crore in March 2023, and Rs 17,26,697 crore in March 2022.
Gangster Suresh Pujari and 11 others have been acquitted in a 2016 builder extortion bid case by a MCOCA court in Thane, India. The court cited the prosecution's failure to present sufficient evidence and carry out a comprehensive investigation. The accused were charged with attempted murder, extortion, criminal conspiracy, and related offenses. The court ruled that the trial against two absconding accused, Ravindra Ghare and Iqlakh Shaikh, would be discontinued due to the acquittal of the other individuals.
